Working from the premise that the parts are greater than the whole, or in this case more interesting, Demian Quiroz focuses his lens on the details of an object to create textured photographic abstractions.  These close-ups eliminate the mundane from recognizable objects, illuminating intricate patterns created in the interactions between light and color, depth and perspective.  Focusing his lens on the details of an object he renders the familiar unrecognizable.   Elephant, tree trunk, wall; each is transformed from what it is into a foreign landscape, the textures of their details become the subject of the photograph.
